As the many communication systems and standards converge towards one integrated
worldwide network, the need for more complex DSP software grows. For both terminal
and infrastructure systems alike the software is required to be flexible, scalable,
re-configurable, reusable, upgradeable and, most importantly, economical. At the same
time, the requirement for optimum performance, development timescales and costs
have to be minimized.
SIGNALS+SOFTWARE is now developing a philosophy that will allow application software
to become instrumental in the design of the silicon. This will result in significantly
improved returns from the investment made in the software design and development, and give
rise to a new generation of Application Specific DSP and Non-Silicon Specific Software.
